Okehampton survival day

As part of Okehampton Colleges activity week, 13 students came to us for a Survival day. Here's what they got up to:

Roli and Pete had camp ready for the students and on arrival, after a health and safety talk, they were split into 2 groups. One went with Roli to learn about fires, whilst the other group stayed with Pete to learn all about knives and how to use them as a tool. They made wooded tent pens and feather sticks and did a really good job !

After a break, the groups swapped over. A quick pit stop for lunch then followed.

After lunch, the students were shown how to skin and prepare a rabbit. Now this was not everyone's cup of tea, so some students went with Pete to make damper bread on the fire. The other students stayed with Roli and prepared 2 more rabbits. Jenni then took a pan full of rabbit meat and cooked it for the students to try. Even those who didn't want to prepare it still ate it, which was great ! The bread went down well too.
