Care farming group 2 start

Today we welcomed our second group of Wellie Wednesday Care farming students from Holsworthy Community College.

They got off to a great start, very eager to learn and keen to see what was in store for them.

Again, the students started with calf feeding, cleaning out and bedding up and with 20 calves in at the moment it does take some time.

Richard from Harpers Feeds joined us again to set the students off with some information about the milk powder, coarse calf mix and ideal growth weights.  It must have been a lot of information for the students to take in!

We were then joined by Phil from the North Devon Biosphere project.  He came to see where we can place a Barn Owl Box.  We took a walk up to the culm/woods to see if there was a good tree which it could be attached to, then we came back to the farm to see if there was any suitable place in the barns.

By the time we had done all of this, it was lunch time and time to get back to school.

Well done group 2 on a great start to your Care Farming sessions.
