Care farming vet visit

We had a busy morning today with our Care Farming students. Here's what we were up to:

The students start with feeding the chickens, pigs and then calves. Then we clean out the calf pens, bed them up, fill up the hay racks with silage and give hay and silage to the weaned calves.

We then went down to find and count the Angus cattle, which were all waiting patiently for us this morning, not like yesterday when i couldn't find them in the fog!

After our break, Andy the Penbode Vet came to talk about calf health. Luckily (or not so really), we have been struggling with a weaned calf who has got gas trouble and we have been struggling over the last couple of weeks to get rid of this gas build up. Andy checked him over and gave us some other suggestions/medicines to see if they would help. Fingers crossed it works. Then we took Andy to see the pigs.

The mornings fly by so fast that it was now time to wash hands and boots and pack up and get back to school.

Until next week.....
