Devon Wildlife Trust Visit

Tuesday 29th September 2015 saw Julians Farm host a Farm Walk organised by the Devon Wildlife Trust.

The walk was attended by local Farmers who have ongoing working relationships with the DWT.  Lisa, the Manager of DWT, gave us a very interesting talk on the new Facilitation Fund, as well as the new style Countryside Stewardship Schemes and the new Tiered Level Funds.

The DWT is appointing a new Facilitation Manager, who will be bringing advice and support to farmers who live within the Torridge Headwaters, promoting good environmental/conservation practices and developing new wildlife havens.  This is going to be a very exciting time for those involved.

Andrew has been asked to be part of the Core Group of Farmers to assist with the ongoing implementation of this scheme.

We had a walk over part of the farm, looking at the Higher Level Stewardship sites we are having cleared, the Culm, the County Wildlife site and the Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Pasties and cake followed, kindly provided by Lisa.  A lovely morning was had by all.
