Holsworthy and Okehampton week 3

Last week was the 3rd session for both our Holsworthy and Okehampton College students. Here's what we got up to !

Our Wednesdays group visited Kivells market in Holsworthy. We set the students a challenge to guess the selling price on some calves. Once the animals had been sold, we then went to the office to find out exactly how much each did sell for and who was closest !

Our Friday group had a visit from Richard Waters, our Harpers Nutritionist.  After all the usual jobs of calf feeding/cleaning/bedding, we helped Richard with weighing the calves. We try to do this every 2-3 weeks, to make sure each calf is making good progress. We look for an average of 0.8kg live weight gain per day. Most of the calves are doing 1kg a day and some are even doing as much as 1.2 kg per day.  This is very pleasing.

All the students are doing so well and really making personal progress, which is fantastic to see. Keep up the good work !
