Jenni judges at Big Bang event

Jenni was invited by Great Torrington School to judge the Primary School entries for their "Make something to measure 60 seconds" category at their Big Bang STEM day, on 18th December.

As a STEM Ambassador, Jenni was invited to take part in Great Torrington School's Big Bang event.

It saw lots of local Primary Schools come to the senior school for the day, with lots of STEM based activities in which they could take part in, watch demonstrations of and learn about.  It was an amazing day and one I would definitely recommend other schools take part in next year.

In the Primary School Challenge, the children has to "Make something to measure 60 seconds".  There were some amazing entries.  All of them were tried and tested by 3 judges, of which Jenni was 1 of.  The entries ranged from Sand Timers, Water times, swinging pendulums, and a Mindcraft game on a tablet computer.  There was some very accurate designs, coming in at 59-61 seconds.  The overall winner was a young boy who had made the Mindcraft game on his tablet.  It showed initiative in using technology to measure the 60 seconds and was 1 of a kind in the challenge.  Well done to him and to the runners up too.  The children won vouchers as prizes.
